Analisis Wacana Kritis Model Norman Fairclough atas Cerita Fiksi “The Dragon In The Hall” Karya Sarah Snashall pada Buku Peserta Didik Kelas 1 Sekolah Dasar SPK

Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis sejauh mana teks, konteks dan sosial budaya cerita fiksi The Dragon in The Hall dalam buku ajar untuk kelas 1 Sekolah Dasar SPK dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan metode analisis wacana kritis model Norman Fairclough dengan enam tahap prosedur penelitian yaitu (1) Membaca teks dengan seksama, (2) Mengumpulkan informasi, (3) Mendeskripsikan isi teks, (4) Menginterpretasi, (5) Mencari penjelasan atas hasil pemahaman, (6) Meringkas hasil analisis dan membuat rekomendasi. Subjek penelitian adalah teks fiksi “The Dragon in The Hall” yang terdapat pada buku pelajaran peserta didik kelas 1 Sekolah Dasar. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa 1) Teks dibuat sederhana dengan melakukan repetisi kosakata dengan jumlah kata yang dipelajari tidak lebih dari 100 kata, 2) Konteks cerita mendorong pembaca untuk senantiasa berimajinasi sebagai karakter utama, dan 3) Sejumlah temuan sosial budaya ditemukan dalam teks berupa kecenderungan ketakutan umum pada anak dan dalam ilustrasi berupa simbol-simbol yang merepresentasi kehidupan negara Inggris.
